  7. Interesting. I didn't realize TV Guide did a Paul-Is-Dead cover.

  9. First of all, thanks for bringing me back to the fold!

Rick(y) Nelson was before my time, and it was so chic to make fun of him when I was a kid that I don't think I noticed how really GORGEOUS he was. If I'd were born a bit earlier, maybe he would hold the spot in my heart that David (sigh) Cassidy inhabits.

  10. What about the Lennon cover? I swear he had one after he was killed.

  12. David Cassidy was my 7-year old crush. Sadly, that shows my age. :)

  20. Malcolm - I collected TV Guides for years - until they got hip to the idea that their guides were collectibles and started publishing 2 or 3 different covers each week!

Anyhoo, I have the Monkees one, the Sonny & Cher, The Beatles one you show and another one, plus most of the ones to do with Star Trek - I have others but don't remember them all and wouldn't bore you with the list anyway, lol!

You went with TV and I went with what I like to do when I watch TV - Eat!! Here's MY 13 FAVORITE RECIPES (with free recipe cards with my own art) OF TINY FOODS (appetizers) from ME, THE DIVA OF TINY FOODS

Try some out and let me know what you think!

Happy TT and welcome back to the fold!

  25. Janet: Thank you! I read somewhere that The Monkees were hosed down for an hour before the TV Guide photo shoot.

Nicholas: Yes, it pains me to see what Michael has done to himself.

Nitnee Lion: I knew that David would put some of you ladies in swoon mode. Thanks for stopping by.

Lori: I remember that I couldn't wait to get the next issue of TV Guide in the mail! Even though it's great to have a digital cable guide, being able to hold the TV Guide in your hand had a certain charm.

Betty: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Karen: Look out, one of these days I might do a T13 of Tiger Beat covers. :-)

    X. Dell: I'm cueing up the rimshot right now. :-)

    Thornesworld: Thank you.

The Gal Herself: You are quite welcome. It's funny how teen idoldom is a generational thing. There are women in their 20s and 30s who will turn their noses up at Donny Osmond and David Cassidy while they moon over NKOTB.

Mistress of the D: Yes, John Lennon was on the cover of a November 1981 issue in which there was a story about how TV dealt with the tragedy of his death. Since I knew I would be including a cover that included all 4 Beatles, I didn't want to commit "Liverpool Overkill" by featuring the Lennon cover as well.

    Brenda: Thanks!

Carmen: You could always say that you discovered David Cassidy through watching reruns of "The Partridge Family" on Nick At Nite.

Hootin' Anni and Megan: I'm glad you enjoyed the memories.

Colleen: I don't care what anyone says, the 70s rocked!

Tricia: The week that they issued the Michael Jackson cover of him as a little boy, they also had a cover of him using a present day photo. The contrast was startling to say the least.

    My Expressions: Thanks!

Pop Art Diva: Although I liked the collectible covers, I think TV Guide went overboard in featuring them at the expense of TV shows. Going back even further, I noticed that practically every TV show would get a cover (regardless of whether it was a hit or not) up until around the mid to late 1970s.

On A Limb: I'm glad that you took the high road and passed on cracking on Mike.

    Barbara and Kandyblossom: Thanks!

Cindy: Thanks... the Monkees cover has proven to be quite popular.

Jessica: I remember the Bob Dylan cover when it came out. Since I was a kid who didn't know what was happening, I wondered why this guy had a towel on his head!
