Please Take A Moment To Vote In the Current RRHOF Poll... Thank You

On Tuesday, the nominees for possible induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced. They are as follows: The Beastie Boys, The Cure, Donovan, Eric B. & RakimGuns ‘N RosesHeartJoan Jett and The BlackheartsFreddie King, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rufus feat. Chaka KhanThe Small Faces/The FacesThe Spinners, Donna Summer, and War. The names highlighted in bold are first time nominees. You can learn more about the nominees by clicking the link at the bottom of the post.

Although the list of nominees isn't perfect, it's the best I've seen in a few years. There's no question there are still some big time oversights. However, the nominating committee can't correct all of their past fuck ups in one year. At the very least, this year's crop of nominees appears to be a step in the right direction.

According to the rules, the top 5 vote getters will be inducted. Although Kiss has a better shot at induction than the average fan getting a chance to vote, for this poll you get to pretend you're on the committee.

Which five nominees would you like to see make it into the RRHOF? The poll is in the upper left hand corner of this page. Also, who are the most glaring ongoing RRHOF snubs?

Biggest snub? Link Wray. Inventor of the power chord, first to use intentional distortion, cited by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page and others as a career influence. Passed over by the Rock Hall for 26 years.

In my opinion, the biggest snub is Hall and Oates. How in the world could anyone think Guns N Roses contributed more to the music world than Hall and Oates!?!?

This is a tough poll because practically everyone is SO deserving. One of my all time faves is Rufus (featuring Chaka Khan), but I am a huge Heart, Spinners, and War fan. I also spent a lot of my youth listening to Donna Summer...So so difficult to choose this year!

Oops! I didn't answer your question about the biggest snub. Maybe Patti Labelle, Labelle, and Dionne Warwick.

Greg: Good call on your choice of Link Wray. I don't hear his name come up often when it comes to RRHOF snubs and it should.

Ann: I'm with you. Because it seems like people have been starting to give H&O their due over the past few years, I thought they had a shot at getting nominated this year.

Pjazzy: I had a rough time narrowing my choices down to five too. Good choices for your snubs by the way. I'm looking forward to the RRHOF snubs show we do when you come back to Flint next year.

I look forward to the snub show too! Is Lou Rawls in the Hall? If not, I wonder how do you justify letting Percy Sledge in before him.

Pjazzy: Nope, Lou is not in the Hall. As you might know, I don't think he belongs in there. However, if given a choice between inducting him or Percy, Lou gets in without question.
