R.E.M. Calls It A Day

Earlier today, R.E.M. announced they are amicably calling it quits after 31 years (you can read more on the story by clicking the link below). Although I consider myself a fan, I'm not upset about R.E.M.'s break up. After all, 31 years is a long time for a band and I like the fact that R.E.M. went out on their own terms. For those who are feeling down about R.E.M.'s split, it's not the end of the world as we know it because they've left us with plenty of music to enjoy. Speaking of which (since I'm a full-fledged listoholic), here are 10 of my favorite R.E.M. songs (in no particular order):

  1. Exhuming McCarthy
  2. Losing My Religion
  3. Gardening at Night
  4. Get Up
  5. Near Wild Heaven
  6. The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite
  7. Imitation of Life
  8. Can't Get There from Here
  9. Disturbance at the Heron House
  10. Man on the Moon
Feel free to list your fave R.E.M. tunes, as well as another other thoughts you have about them, in the comments section.

Well, sometimes we have to move on. I always thought Tina Turner was sensible for retiring.

X. Dell: Exactly. I hate it when an entertainer, TV show, etc. stays in the game too long and has us wanting less.

Stagg: Good call. I'll throw in The Replacements and Big Star for good measure.
