In an interview with British celebrity magazine OK!, 16 year old singer/actress Jamie-Lynn Spears (younger sister of Britney and star of the Nickelodeon series "Zoey 101") has announced that she is 12 weeks pregnant. According to the interview, the father of the baby is longtime boyfriend Casey Aldridge (whom she reportedly met in church). For the full story on TVGuide.com, click here.
Coming on the heels of this news is the announcement that the parenting book by Lynne Spears (mom of Jamie-Lynn and Britney) has been put "on hold" indefinitely. The book (tentatively titled Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World) was scheduled to be released on Mother's Day 2008. OK... once you are done picking yourself up off the floor from laughing at the prospect of such a book by Ms. Spears, feel free to drop a couple of pennies in the comments section.

I almost fell over laughing when I heard this. Not that it's funny that a 16 year old is pregnant, but it's not amusing at all. I laughed because of Mama Spears parenting book.
I wrote a post on this very subject today!!! I think you might enjoy it!

Surprise, Surprise! It's a good idea to put the book on hold. Somewhere down the line something went haywire in that family. Mommy Spear's credibility is shot to hell. I think your kids get out of control when you depend on their money to support you. Then you become afraid to tell them when they are getting down wrong because you are afraid they are going to cut your ass off. It's a sad commentary.
Where do I begin...I heard this today and just grinned. I've already expressed my feelings about her sister, the trashball, but I don't have any feelings toward the little sis except to feel sorry for her in a way. Who knows, at this rate she could end up being the best parent of the bunch.

I've been saying they should call it "If I did it." LOL.
Good Lord...but the real question is, is Britney prego again too?? You'd think she would have learned from her older sis of what NOT to do. Now, her life will change forever. KIDS!!
I find it very telling that Lynn Spears - who is supposedly very upset by this news - chose to announce her 16-year-old's pregnancy by doing an interview in a TABLOID! Nice. Guess she figures she needs to make money off her while she can.
I hope she doesn't turn out as badly as Brit as a mum, and she's the prettier of the two. But what made me laugh was that the father is her "longtime" boyfriend.
WTF? How longtime could it be, she's 16 for crying out loud.
As to the parenting book...it should be called...How to Ruin Your Children: The Showbiz Way.
This does raise the question..... who cares??
Jessica: Like you said, teen pregnancy isn't a laughing matter. That's why I thought it would be a good idea for me to specify that I thought the idea of a book by Ms. Spears was funny... not Jamie-Lynn's situation.
Thanks for letting me know about your post on this topic. As you already know, I checked it out that morning.
Pjazzy: "Getting down wrong"... I like that. You're right though. We've heard too many stories about showbiz kids who are the bread winners of the family.
Holly: Your reference to Britney as a "trashball" made me laugh. I am going to file that one away for future use. You could be on to something about Jamie-Lynn turning out to be the best parent of the 3. Hopefully, she paid attention to the child-rearing "skills" of her mother and sister and learned what not to do.
Damien: That's not a bad title. Another possibility is "Oops... Now I've Really Gone and Done It".
Lori: I thought I had heard something earlier in the week about Britney being pregnant again. Maybe it was early rumblings about her sister.
Book Mama: I agree with you. Lynne probably figures that she better milk that gravy train before it comes to a screeching halt.
Mistress: Excellent point about the "longtime" reference. They make it sound like Jamie-Lynn and Casey have been dating since kindergarten.
I love your idea for the book title. Of course it would never fly... too much truth in it.
Nicholas: Another question is this... why do people bother commenting on topics about which they claim not to care??
i think lynn spears deserves the "mother of the year" award! haha
Kendra: I can see her clearing space in her trophy case right now.
