Old School Fridays: Songs From the Year of My Birth

Below are not 1, but 2 tracks from the year I was born... 1967. The first track holds special meaning for me because it was the #1 song on the Billboard Pop Singles chart on the day I was born (November 13)... the title song to the Sidney Poitier film To Sir With Love by Lulu. The second track is one of the funkiest tunes ever committed to vinyl, Boogaloo Down Broadway by The Fantastic Johnny C.

You can watch/listen to both "To Sir With Love" and "Boogaloo Down Broadway" in the You Tube player below.

"To Sir With Love" was the jam and the movie was superb. I hadn't thought about "Boogaloo Down Broadway" in years. Excellent choices!

To Sir With Love is a tune man. I always remember my Mom singing it from the top of her lungs throughout the house.

Great pics!

Happy OSF!

I saw that movie for the first time about 5 years ago, and I loved it. Now I don't if I love the song as much as the movie, but it's very nostalgic of the time.

I didn't know you can play two songs on one player. Now this second song is more of speed. I like the soul and grit. The first song was to gentle for me, rough is more of my style. Music that is.

I remember the songs and the movie very well. To Sir With Love appealed for a different reason but it was beloved. But Boogie Down On Broadway, there were parties, bar-b-ques, bid whist, and a lot of fun. Very good picks.

My daughter just seen the preview for this movie and I told her I would get it so she can watch it (If I don't forget).

I have seen the movie once and this this is the first time I have paid attention to the song.

Have a wonderful weekend.
