Final Results of the Michael Jackson Video Poll

With an outcome that some would say was predictable, "Thriller" received the most votes in the poll in which I asked people to select their favorite Michael Jackson music video.

Here are a couple of interesting stats from this poll:
  • "Thriller" received 37% of the vote
  • Exactly 37 people voted in this poll
What makes them so interesting? The album Thriller spent 37 wks at #1 on the Billboard Pop Album chart!

Below are the final poll results, followed by the winning video:

Thriller- 37%
Beat It and Smooth Criminal- 16% each
Billie Jean and Remember the Time- 13% each
Black or White and You Are Not Alone- 8% each
Bad, In the Closet, The Way You Make Me Feel, and "Other"- 2% each

I certainly believe Thriller was the most influential, but I judge my videos by whether I still stop what I'm doing to watch it. After the Motown 25 performance of Billie Jean, I was captivated. When I see this video, I relive the feeling I experienced the first time I saw it performed.

What a great blog, I wish I found it earlier. I would have voted for "Smooth Criminal".

Love the clip of Jerry lee Lewis. That guy was so ahead of his time. You have great taste in music.

LL Cool Joe: Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words! The gravity defying lean featured in "Smooth Criminal" is still amazing!

The Jerry Lee Lewis clip from "American Bandstand" is one of the few instances that an artist didn't lip sync. I wish more artists performed "live" on shows like that because it made all the difference.
