OMG, Pass the Dutchie?? Where on Earth did you dig THAT one up from??? Holy smoke, that's one I haven't missed.

However, Borderline? I still love the brightness of it. It's so airy, so optimistic. If I ever teach spin, I think I'll give that song a better listen and see if it'd be good to include on a road.

Thanks for the shout out. I knew you would like Chaka. Speaking of "Pass the Dutchie" that you to be Brian's favorite song when it was out. Do you remember when they teamed up with Donna Summer for a song entitled "Unconditional Love"? Great show.

Susan: The shovel I used to dig up "Pass the Dutchie" wasn't as big as you might expect. Admit it, don't you sometimes ponder the musical question, "How does it feel when you've got no food?"

Pjazzy: You are quite welcome! That Chaka CD makes for some great driving music. I actually have "Unconditional Love" in my collection. I've played it on the show a few times.

Stop the Violence- Boogie Down Productions. Wow - I have some great memories of when this one was out. :)

She's A Lady- Tom Jones. This is bar none one of the coolest driving songs ever. I absolutely cannot get enough of this song.

Early In the Morning- The Gap Band. Every "boy band" should have to watch this - just to see how an ensemble really works it. This is what's wrong with music these days, damn kids. :)

Is This Really the First Time- JoBoxers. I'm glad you found the video for this one - I loved the JoBoxers. I wonder if the underwear people ever considered a promo with them?

Borderline- Madonna. I'm with Susan on Borderline. I always like hearing this one.

2 Hype- Kid & Play. Remember the fade? I know you do, Malcolm.

Tired of Toein' the Line- Rocky Burnette. Cheesiest video EVER but I sure did like Rocky Burnette.

Good show, Malcolm!

Borderline, huh?...just kidding.
My favorites are Chantilly Lace, Mama Told Me Not to Come, and Welcome to the Jungle. Chris has that GNR CD...I should load it on the ipod!

Hehe, I like Welcome To the Jungle- Guns 'n' Roses - and I have to admit, I'm not too familiar with some of the songs listed, not most, just some. There's still a lot of music learning I need to do!! I mention Welcome To the Jungle- Guns 'n' Roses because of that recent incident at a school after hours - did you hear about it?

I have been listening lately to a 70s station on the DirecTv thingy (yes that is its technical name), but even they don't play The Gap Band...awesome. Thanks for reminding of of some more unforgettable music from my young adulthood.

Amy: I'm glad you enjoyed the show! Whenever I hear "She's A Lady", I think of the Gina Gershon/Jennifer Tilly film "Bound" because it was played at the end.

I had no idea that there was a video for "Is This Really the First Time" by JoBoxers. I just did a search on Cyber Crack (aka You Tube) and voila! The leader singer of JoBoxers had one of the coolest names ever... Dig Wayne. As for Kid's fade... you know I remember, lol.

The video for "Tired of Toein' the Line" was Velveetaesque. I hadn't seen it in years, but I do remember Rocky being dressed as a fireman riding on the firetruck (wtf?). I did like his "backup band" though.

Holly: At about 5:30 on Saturday, I got a call from a lady who begged... pleaded with me to play "Borderline". I was like, "OK, OK, take it easy. I'll play it."

Seriously, I didn't get a call like that. I played it for a couple of reasons. Because Madonna is being inducted into the RRHOF and because it brings back fond memories for me as well.

In my opinion, the versions of "Chantilly Lace" and "Mama Told Me Not To Come" that I played are almost as good as the originals. Believe it or not, that is the first time I have ever played GNR on my show. I had been meaning to for awhile, but hadn't got around to it for one reason or another.

Candy: Thanks!

Frigga: I think we all have some musical learning to do. I look at it as an ongoing process. If you happen to be free some Saturday afternoon, I hope you can check my show.

No, I didn't hear about the afterschool incident (at least I don't think I did). Can you fill me in on what happened?

Vixen: I'm glad this week's playlist brought back some memories for you. You might want to try the 80s channel on DirectTV for Gap Band music. Although the Gap Band first became popular in the late 70s, they had their biggest hits during the 80s.
