Growing up, one of my favorite Saturday rituals was checking out the show that was dubbed "The Hippest Trip In America". Although the "Soul Train Line" and the "Soul Train Scramble Board" were a big part of the show, the main attraction for me was the artists who stopped by to perform. Out of the countless Soul Train performances I've seen over the years, Joe Tex' appearance in which he performs his 1977 hit Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman) sticks out as one of the most memorable. Not only do I love the song, but the end of the performance is pretty funny. Thinking back, I recall being a bit startled when I first saw the end of the performance.

I remember this performance. Wasn't that just over the top? My sister and I laughed then started doing the "bump" and falling down.
Kids...
Happy OSF.
Well, this is my first time hearing this song or seeing this performance.
He was doing his thing on the stage with the mic.
You gave me a heads up that the ending was going to be starling so it wasn't.
Snap I went with a Joe Tex performance too! He does not hardly get enough recognition, but he was large in the 60's.
Wow, that was a heck of a choice. It's the first time I actually listened to the lyrics to appreciate the scale of parody. That big sister was throwin' down too!
This song is right up there with Short People and Kung Fu Fighting - LOL.
Happy OSF.
I was a fat teen and that song made my life a living hell because as they say kids are cruel. Teens worse. But thanks for it anyway because I know a lot of people loved it. Otherwise, I liked Tex.
Hagar's Daughter: I'm glad to hear that this clip brought back some fond memories! If you are with someone you know, it's almost impossible not to do the "bump" to this song.
True Urban Queen: This is my favorite Joe Tex song. Although this was a pretty big hit, it's one of those tunes that doesn't get played much anymore.
Pjazzy: I don't know why Joe doesn't get the recognition these days because he was large like you said.
Martin: Thanks! Good call on your part in comparing this to "Short People" and "Kung Fu Fighting". Speaking of the latter, you have to hear the follow-up "Dance the Kung Fu".
Verite: I'm sorry to hear about the childhood memories this song drudged up. Thanks for stopping by.
