In a tight race, the character referred to as the Clown Prince of Crime, the Harlequin of Hate, and the Ace of Knaves emerged victorious in the recent "Favorite Batman Villain" poll. Since first place was knotted up between The Joker and Catwoman when the poll closed, I reopened it and broke the tie. I can't speak for the rest of you who voted for The Joker but for me, it was the combination of the portrayals by Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson that won me over.
Although I didn't expect Mr. Freeze to win, I thought that he would get more than the one vote. Oh well, to paraphrase a quote uttered by George Sanders when he portrayed Mr. Freeze in the 1960s TV series, "that's the way the ice cube crumbles".
Here are the final results:
The Joker- 43%
Catwoman- 36%
The Penguin- 10%
The Riddler- 6%
Mr. Freeze- 3%

I think overall The Joker was the best of Batman's archenemies. I did like the cleverness of The Riddler, too.
Do you know, by any chance, if The Joker made the most appearances on Batman? I don't think they all appeared equally.....

It was a toss up between Catwoman and the Joker (I voted for Catwoman). I don't know if I am going to like this new Joker because he looks way too dark for my taste.
Jessica: All of this Batman talk makes me wish I had copies of the 60s series on tape. It looks like the Penguin barely edged out the Joker for most appearances on Batman (20 to 19).
Pjazzy: Yes, it looks like the Heath Ledger incarnation of the Joker will be dark as night (or should I say knight).
