Cube farm resident Michael Bolton
No Talent Ass Clown Michael Bolton
No Talent Ass Clown Michael Bolton
Wednesday is singer Michael Bolton's 55th birthday. This made me think of Office Space, the 1999 cult comedy starring Ron Livingston, Gary Cole, and Jennifer Aniston. For those who have seen the film, you may remember that one of the characters had the misfortune of having the same name as the Grammy-winning singer.
If anyone is saying, "I hope that Malcolm uses this post to sing the praises of one of my favorite vocalists", you have a better chance of seeing Duane "Dog" Chapman host the BET Awards. As a matter of fact, this is how Lawrence (the neighbor of the lead character in "Office Space") would respond to anyone expecting me to wax poetically about Mr. Bolton:
No. No, man. Shit, no, man. I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man.
Although the above line is in reference to what should happen to a co-worker who says to you "Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays'', it's a quote that serves many purposes.
Below is a montage of scenes from "Office Space". The scene where the character Michael Bolton shows his feelings about having the same name as the singer is at about the 5 minute and 40 second mark. Now about those TPS reports...

That movie was a classic. It was so funny and anyone working on a corporate cube farm could identify with it.
And it was Jennifer Aniston's best performance ever. Which isn't saying much, but oh well.
"Corporate accounts payable, Nina speaking...JUST a momENT!"
We have this one on DVD. It's one of the only movies that can make me crack up no matter how many times I've seen it.
I like the paranoid "jump to conclusions" guy. Also, I must admit, that I can do a mean impersonation of the red stapler guy. Maybe it's my glasses...LOL
As for the "no talent ass-clown" all I can say is that I like him better with the short haircut...

Jay: I refer to "Office Space" as "Clerks for the corporate drones". I agree with you about Aniston. I think the reason I liked her in "Office Space" is because she wasn't playing a variation on the Rachel Green character, which is what she seems to do in a majority of her films.
Holly: " So Peter, what's happening?" So many scenes in this movie are coming back to me now. I forgot about the "jump to conclusions" guy. Some of my other favorite parts are when Jennifer Aniston's boss talks to her about her lack of flare and when she and Peter discuss their love of Kung Fu reruns.
If you ever put audio clips of yourself on your blog, you have to include you doing an impersonation of the red stapler guy. I sometimes can't believe that it's the same actor (Stephen Root) who played Jimmy James (the boss on News Radio).
hahaha. "...because you know that I could burn down the building...very easily in fact..."
Chris worked at Enron before it fell like a stack of cards, and he worked with a guy that was always paranoid like the "jump to conclusions guy". Chris would tell him, "Come on, like they're really going to lay everyone off...like the whole company is going to just collapse..."
