While watching "Pardon the Interruption" on Monday, I learned that it was "Downtown" Julie Brown's 44th birthday. Talk about a blast from the past. For awhile, it seemed like you couldn't turn on MTV without seeing "Downtown" Julie Brown in one of her wild outfits. Later, she expanded her horizons with hosting duties at Super Bowls XXV and XXVI as well as commercial endorsements for Pepsi and MCI.
She then gradually faded away, doing occasional TV guest shots and small roles in movies like "Spy Hard" and "B*A*P*S". The funniest line I heard about the downward spiral of her professional life was by David Spade as part of his "Hollywood Minute" segment on SNL: "Wubba, wubba, wubba. My career's in trubba, trubba, trubba".
