Billionaire patriarch Asa Buchanan (played by Philip Carey) makes a brief return to "One Life To Live" starting on November 9th. As many of you know, Carey chose to leave the ABC soap back in April instead of going off contract and appearing on a recurring basis. In a move that angered many fans, the producers decided to kill off the character of Asa Buchanan (he died offscreen in mid-August).
For his return, Asa will appear on videotape to read his last will and testament to the rest of the Buchanans. In addition to the November 9th episode, Carey will also appear on November 12th and 13th.

Wow! I didn't know old Asa--or Philip, I guess I should say--was still alive n' kickin'. I used to watch OLTL years ago, back when Asa was married to Samantha. I'm showing my age here!
Sorry, I don't watch soaps. Still, I know when someone's been McLeaned.
Ditto what Cindy said! I remember him from long long ago! But haven't watched soaps in a long time. My have was always All My Children :)
Cindy Swanson: I started watching OLTL in 1985. Although Samantha had been dead for a little bit, her brother Brad was still on the show.
X. Dell: I hadn't heard the term "McLeaned" in awhile. Philip Carey deserved better.
Barbara: I started watching AMC and OLTL on a regular basis on the same day. One of the big AMC storylines at the time was the "Who Killed Zack Grayson" mystery. Remember that one? I quit watching the soaps for awhile during the 90s (too many other things going on, the pre-emptions because of the O.J. trial through me off, etc.). Since the creation of SoapNet, I can now periodically check in on AMC and OLTL in the evenings and on weekends.
