Adam Levine Discusses Why He Broke Up With Maria Sharapova

According to Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, he broke up with tennis superstar Maria Sharapova because she was a "terrible lover" who refused to move or moan during sex. The couple dated for a short time in 2005 after meeting at Sharapova's 18th birthday party. However, the relationship soon fell by the wayside.

Levine told Russian magazine "Exile" the following: "She wouldn't make any noise during sex. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. I really thought, like a lot of guys, that she'd be the loud screaming type. But instead, she just lay there like a dead frog. She even got angry if I started to moan, said it 'ruined her concentration.' It was so disillusioning that I went on Paxil (an antidepressant) for a month afterwards. Really, it was much more of a shock than when I found out there's no such thing as the Easter Bunny."

Personally, I find Levine's comments a little hard to believe. If you've ever seen Sharapova in action on the tennis court you know exactly what I mean. However, the validity of the story is beside the point. To go to the media and discuss a former lover's sexual prowess (or lack thereof) is pretty low in my book. Sharapova must have done something to piss off Levine because he was pretty harsh. As I think about it, I wonder if this might backfire on Levine. In the past, he has dated such celebs as Kirsten Dunst, Paris Hilton, Jessica Biel, and Natalie Portman. Do you think the ladies will be reluctant to get involved with Adam for fear he might put their "business in the street"?

Note: A rep for Adam Levine is now denying that the singer made the above comments about Maria Sharapova's lovemaking skills.

This struck me as both funny and kind of sad. But to be honest, my first thought was, heck, maybe ole boy wasn't doing anything that would cause her to wanna move or moan . . .

Okay, I know, I'm SO bad (LOL). I've given myself 30 lashes and now I'm off to go sit in the corner . . . where I can finish giggling in private (smile).

There is almost nothing worse than one who kisses and tells. Shame on you Levine.

There is never a good reason to share intimate details to the public. I think he was compensating for his own lack of ability, to validate himself as a lover.

But instead, there are those of us that might just believe that "Mr. Winky" was just not up to service...therefore, no moaning required.

*My bad...now going off to the other corner...snickering about the mishaps of poor Mr. Winky.

What a field day for Malcolm, all these celebrity jackwits in one day. :)

I think I'd diss Mr Levine for any number of things - being too skinny, taking bad hairdo advice, whiny nasal voice, whatever - but a guy who kisses and tells, well, as pjazz says, that's pretty low.

I'm putting my money with Lori and Silver. What's Russian for "is it in yet??"

I didn't think this guy could be more of a turd than he already was...but he proved me wrong.

I would totally make noise if I were having sex with Adam Levine. Lots of wretching.

To all who commented about Adam's possible "shortcomings": It would be funny if another one of Maria's partners came out in defense of her and said "I find Adam Levine's comments rather amusing. I had to stick a sock in Maria's mouth to keep her quiet!"

Amy: Sometimes I have to struggle to come up with topics that I find blogworthy... not this week! It's great when a post will practically write itself! Jackwits... I like that.

Beckeye: Maybe it was you, but I seem to remember another blogger referring to Adam as a turd. No arguments from me.

Oh and Lori, reserve a spot in the corner for me please.

I don't get the appeal of Adam Levine...but that's neither here nor there....
Little Miss Sunshine, much like The Usual Suspects, has a terrific ending....You have to watch it....But I hope that no one has spoiled it for you already!

Mama Pajama: No one has spoiled "Little Miss Sunshine" for me... yet. I say "yet" because this SOB ruined "The Sixth Sense" for me several years ago. He was a co-worker of mine at the time and we (along with a few others) were talking about movies. When the subject of "The Sixth Sense" came up, I made it plain that I hadn't seen it but was looking forward to doing so. This SOB then blurted out the surprise ending. To this day, I still haven't seen "The Sixth Sense". Since people have told me that I should check it out even though I know the ending, I might do so someday.

Turns out that people shouldn't be so quick to judge.

Or are there any blog posts here about this retraction?

David: Thanks for commenting and for providing me with a link to the story. Unfortunately, this didn't receive nearly as much press as the item that appeared in Exile magazine.

Having said that, when you first read the item in Exile, did you feel it was satire?
