Hey Malcolm,

I knew about "Bette Davis Eyes" and "Nothing Compares 2 U". I actually have the album by the Family. Prince was he driving force behind the group (I was and remain a huge Prince fan).

I have to admit, I didn't know any of these were remakes. I actually love pointing out to "kids today" that a LOT of the songs by their favorite artists of today are remakes of songs we heard in the 80's...they look at you like "What are you talking about?" haha

Thanks for stopping by my TT!

Hi Pjazzpar,

When I purchased "The Best of Jackie DeShannon" several years ago, the selling point was that it contained "Bette Davis Eyes". I think I might play her version when my show returns later this month.

A friend during my college days had a dub of the album by The Family. The other song I remember from that LP is "Screams of Passion".

Hello - didn't know all of these either. Off to listen to a few now. Happy TT.

I knew quite a few of those, but not all. And here's another one for ya -- lots of people really liked the version of "Because the Night" by 10,000 Maniacs, but Patti Smith did it first (she co-wrote it with Bruce Springsteen), and to my mind, nothing can compare with Patti's version.

Happy TT, and thanks for visiting mine! :)
