In this 1995 commercial, the man formerly known as Richard Starkey proclaims that he is ready to "get back" with the lads... and eat some delicious Italian pies from Pizza Hut. When this first aired, I really got a kick out of seeing the "lads" appear near the end.

Oh I remember this one. It's great!
Man, I had forgotten that one. That's great! It helps that I used to be a huge "Monkees" fan, back in the day. :)
This'll cause my Grandmother to roll in her grave, but yes, I like Pizza Hut ;-0
Oh, and you were half right - but since everyone was having so much trouble I posted another line and a half of lyrics :P
You know, I'd forgotten all about that commercial. Then again, I tried to forget as much as possible during the 1980s.
Oh yes, now I remember it (after watching it). Very fun commercial. BTW: I've already thought of about 30 Guilty Pleasure Songs - I think I'll have to just put them into categories. I like what I like...what can I say?
its kind of disturbing to me to see a Beatle in a pizza ad.
This was one great memory. Thanks! :o)
OK, pretty good commercial, but you have to be asking yourself "why does a Beatle need to do a commercial"? Ringo must have been drinking some pretty pricey Vodka back in the 70s and 80s....
It doesn't seem that long ago that stuffed crust pizza was introduced...12 years ago? Wow how time flies.
I'm suddenly hungry...
Mistress of the Dark: For some reason, I was thinking this commercial was made in the late 80s while I still lived in Marquette.
Cindy: I first was introduced to The Monkees back in the early 70s. I used to watch reruns of their show on Saturday morning TV on both CBS and ABC, as well as on Channel 50 (an independent station in Detroit).
Firgga: Pizza Hut is hard to deny isn't it? I saw the answer to the Metallica lyric question you posted on your blog. When you mentioned that it was a famous song, I was thinking that the word "Master" was in the title. All I could come up with was the Dylan tune "Masters of War" which I knew was wrong.
X. Dell: It's amazing the number of commercials that you can find on You Tube. One commercial that I will not be resurrecting is the Energizer commercials that starred Australian athlete/actor Jacko... damn those were annoying.
Holly: Ooh... I can't wait to see your list of guilty pleasures! I wonder if you will struggle narrowing your list down to 13 like I did.
Barbara and Anandamide: I think I might have asked the same question about a Beatle appearing in a commercial when this first aired. If either Five O'Clock or Popov had been Ringo's vodka of choice, he may have been able to avoid taking the commercial route.
Pjazzy: Although I thought this commercial was made in the late 80s, I didn't think that Stuffed Crust pizza dated back that far. I got my pop culture wires mixed somewhere.
Stealth: Eat a slice for me!
I didn't watch this clip until today and I'm glad I did - I got quite a laugh out of the end of it! (You know I love the Monkees!) Thanks!
BookMama: I am glad you remembered to check out the clip. I figured that a Monkee fan such as yourself would get a kick out of Micky, Davy, and Peter's appearance at the end.
