Now seriously, Malcolm, how could you have left me off your Catwoman list?!? JessiCat totally rocks all of them.....

Since I'm not there and can't vote for myself, I'm picking Julie Newmar. I really like Eartha Kitt, too, but something about Julie always stood out to me.

I agree that Julie Newmar was smoking hot as Catwoman, but I have always loved Michelle Pfeiffer!

This one is way too difficult, so I might have to sit this poll out. I mean everyone of these women brought something unique to the character. Julie Newmar, the original, was so wickedly evil. Eartha Kitt had the voice and enunciation of a cat. Lee Meriwether brought class to the role. Michelle Pfeiffer brought the character to the big screen, making her larger than life. Finally Halle Berry took it to another level, providing an explanation of how the character came to be. I won't be mad no matter who wins.

I picked Michelle - she was in the one I watched... :-0

I actually really like the Halle Berry version but had to vote for Eartha Kitt.

She may have only been catwoman in 3 episodes, but it is Earth Kitt all the way. :)

Eartha Kitt was great with the at that time, Tim Burton's 'Batman Returns' was better Michelle Pfeiffer had a better role and worked with better technology, I could not get the Halle Berry's role, the idea of Catwoman without Batman will not work. The writers were trying to make a main character from a supporting character Halle Berry could not pull that off, shes not a action actress. Michelle Pfeiffer or Angelina Jolie would have been my first two choices for that move.

To be honest, Kitt and Newmar are a dead heat, as far as I'm concerned. I had to flip a coin.

It's all Eartha Kitt for me. I still say she was robbed of an Academy Award in 1992 for her role as Lady Eloise in Boomerang!

Wow, I'm surprised! Halle Berry doesn't have any votes so far???

Nor does Lee Merriweather but I'll bet most people forgot she ever played Catwoman.

I waffled between Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt and finally settled on Julie Newmar - just because she was so camp.

Eartha has the purr down pat. I'm pretty sure she was a feline of some sort in another life.

I thought Halle did a fair job as Catwoman. I actually prefer her seeing her in those kind of roles as opposed to see her cast as a slave, or a "round the way" type of girl. Personally, I think she's ill-suited for the latter. Losing Isaih, Queenie and Monster's Ball all make my head hurt (LOL).

Angelina Jolie as Catwoman? Yes, I could see that.

Rock Chick: I was going to include you in the poll, but you never responded to my request for a pic of you in your Catwoman getup.

Jay: Michelle Pfeiffer is one of those women who I don't believe I've ever seen look bad.

Pjazzy: When polls like this are difficult, get scientific like me... eeny, meeny, miny, moe...

Frigga: I thought you might be too young to remember the 60s series/movie. It doesn't help that neither are rerun much anymore. Thanks for voting.

Pussreboots: I heard the Halle Berry movie was bad... but she did look good in that black leather.

Lord Mhoram: Eartha definitely left a lasting impression. Good info regarding the # of Batman appearances she made.

Mad Hatter: Some might beg to differ with you because I heard that Halle Berry did well as Storm in the "X-Men" movies. Even though I know Catwoman has been a stand alone character, it's hard picturing her without Batman so I agree with you in that regard. Thanks for participating.

X. Dell: When it comes down to two, the coin flip is the only way to go.

What's A Donzer: At the very least, Eartha should have gotten an Oscar nom for her role in "Boomerang".

Pop Art Diva: I was surprised too about Halle being shutout thus far. Even though I knew that Lee wouldn't get many or any votes (for the very reason you cited), I still couldn't leave her out. I think I might still have that 1966 theatrical version of "Batman" with Lee on a VHS tape somewhere.

Lori: Did you ever see "B*A*P*S" with Halle Berry? If you didn't, don't bother. Roger Ebert's description of the movie as "jaw -droppingly bad" was accurate. Halle was way out of her element in that one. I felt that she was aiming to get some street cred when she signed on for that one.

I voted but the polls aren't currently available...meanwhile I voted for Eartha Kitt. Love her, her looks her voice!

Candy: I have run into that problem before (poll being unavailable). Clicking "refresh" usu. works for me. Try that and let me know if that does the trick.

Hey Malcolm,

One man's trash is another's treature, That's why I don't listen to critics. Baps was bad, true dat,, but it was funny in a silly sort of way, especially Halle's sidekick. I also like Glitter.

Malcolm said...

Pjazzy: I don't pay attention to critics much either, but I think that Ebert's description of "BAPS" was funny and on the money. I know I find a lot of stuff funny that would make most people scratch their head and ask "why?". However, if it makes me laugh, that's all I care about.

I voted. I think Michelle Pfeiffer was the best as Catwoman.

pussreboots said...

I know... most folks think I'm crazy for actually liking the Halle Barry film but I do. It's completely outside the Batman universe but as a stand alone it's entertaining. :)

Malcolm said...

Simply Shannon: I mentioned in the post where I listed the final results of the poll that I should make it a point to see "Batman Returns" all the way through. I did see parts of it, including one scene where Catwoman kicks some serious ass.

Pussreboots: One thing I noticed from the poll is that Halle Berry's portrayal definitely has its share of fans.
