I picked "One," but the Harry Nilsson one!
ANd I LOVE that Stone Poney photo. I've never seen it before!! Coolness!
Oh my gosh! I had forgotten ALL about 3 Dog Night! The Monkees? What EVER brought that to your mind? Word associations always amaze me!
Matched on a couple! Good choices!
Drum: Funky Drummer - James Brown
River: River Deep, Mountain High - The Supremes and The Four Tops
Sea: Too Many Fish in the Sea - The Marvelettes
Sand: Castle in the Sand - Little Stevie Wonder
Travel: Travelin Light - Queen Latifah
Time: Time Passages - Al Stewart
Journey: Up, Up, and Away - Fifth Dimension
Number: Call Me (I Got Your Number) Tina Marie, feat. Rick James
Theme: Love Theme - Barry White and the Love Unlimited Orchestra
Magic: Do You Believe in Magic - Lovin Spoonful
LOL Now I have the Monkees theme song stuck in my head!
Great Tuesday Tunes list!
Just as mine this week was Ringo-centric, yours is Nesmith-centric, isn't it? I bet he makes more today much off of "Different Drum" than he does from Liquid Paper. (With computers, does anyone use that anymore?)
And yes, I humbly acknowledge that you beat me on this one. (Bowing.)
LOVED your answers!!
Hey, Hey we're the Monkee's..People say we monkey around..
Great list, very original!
I love the Olivia Newton John track. Xanadu! One of my favorite cheesy movies ever :)
Natsthename: I had never seen that Stone Poneys photo until I found it on Google Images. I find some really cool pics that way.
Melli: In answer to your question as to why I chose The Monkees for the word "theme", it's because the name of their theme song is "(Theme from) The Monkees".
Polly: Thank you. I noticed that we shared a couple of answers.
Pjazzy: "Too Many Fish In the Sea" is one of my favorite Marvelettes's tunes. It's a shame they are not in the RRHOF.
Simply Shannon: Lucky for you that I didn't pick Barney the Dinosaur for any of my answers, lol. If that theme song ever gets stuck in one's head, I hope they have a sharp/blunt instrument nearby.
The Gal Herself: That's an interesting question you posed about the use of Liquid Paper today. I don't know about others, but I still use it. I write out my radio show playlists in ink and I use Liquid Paper when I make a mistake.
Oh and by the way, I plan on getting to your T13 for this week before you get to mine. :-)
Bitter Betty: The Monkees' theme is one of my all-time faves.
Michael: Thank you.
The Mistress of the D: I finally saw "Xanadu" for the first time earlier this year. That movie is just covered in Velveeta.
I saw "Sea of Love" and had to look at this post. That has been my all time favorite song. I never saw a picture of Phil Phillips. Wonder what's he's doing now.
Linda: Thanks so much for commenting. After checking Wikipedia, I found that Phil Phillips is alive and well and living in Louisiana. He even has his own MySpace page. Here is the link:
