On December 18th, "The Mod Squad: The 1st Season Volume 1" is scheduled to be released on DVD. The series, which ran on ABC from 1968-73, told the story of Pete Cochran (played by Michael Cole), Linc Hayes (Clarence Williams III), and Julie Barnes (Peggy Lipton): three young, undercover cops who worked under the guidance of Capt. Adam Greer (Tige Andrews). The upcoming DVD release of "The Mod Squad" is great news for fans of the series because although it was a big hit in its original run, it rarely shows up in reruns today.
Since the DVD set is subtitled "The 1st Season Volume 1", it will most likely include the 1st 13 episodes (which featured such guest stars as Lou Gossett, Della Reese, Isabel Sanford, Joan Van Ark, and Dabney Coleman). As the release date approaches, please feel free to visit TV Shows On DVD for more details.

I thought Peggy Lipton was the coolest chick on TV. I wanted to be her and hang out with Linc and Pete :)
Yeah, the Mod Squad had a little something for everyone, didn't it (smile)? I think Linc might have been my first crush. Hey, I was a kid (smile). But seriously, didn't he chase somebody in just about every episode?
The show was the "bomb" back in the day when it first aired and it will be interesting to see if the show will stand the test of time. I will be purchasing a copy.
Loved this show when I was a kid! I may have to get this ...
Barbara: I think that many young ladies who grew up watching "The Mod Squad" would agree with you about the coolness of Peggy/Julie.
Lori: "The Mod Squad" did have a little something for everyone didn't it? Although "Ironside" debuted earlier and had a similar young trio demographic-wise (Don "Ed Brown" Galloway, Barbara "Eve Whitfield" Anderson, and Don "Mark Sanger" Mitchell), they didn't have the coolness quotient of Pete, Linc, and Julie.
I don't recall a lot of the episodes specifically, but you are probably right about Linc chasing a lot of people. I was checking out an episode guide for the show yesterday and noticed that there were more than a few episodes that involved The Mod Squad helping out friends/relatives from their past.
Pjazzy: I think that one of the reasons that it isn't rerun much these days is because networks feel that the "60s vibe" dates it. I think it would be cool if a network would at least give it a chance and let viewers decide.
Beth: I may be picking this up myself. If it has special features, that will make it very hard to pass up.
